cabinets already installed in theirColorado, US home intoa hutch,

“Ruth was very sceptical,”he recalls. Tocreatethe look, Richard

removed a door from the wal I cabinet and the lam inate

countertop from the desk underneath. He connected those

upperandlowercabinetswithabeaded-boardbacksplash,then

added aceramic-tilecounter,shelvesforwine bottles,and

seal loped tri m he cut with a jigsaw. An antique pai nt finish

enhanced the makeover. Ruth’sreaction?“She liked it so much,”

Richard says,“she had me redo the entire kitchen!”®
